Butterfly valve, also known as flap valve, is a regulating valve with simple structure, which can be used for on-off control of medium in low-pressure pipeline. Butterfly valve refers to a valve whose closing part (valve disc or butterfly plate) is a disc and rotates around the valve shaft to open and close. The valve can be used to control the flow of various types of fluids such as air, water, steam, various corrosive media, mud, oil products, liquid metal and radioactive media. It mainly plays the role of cutting off and throttling on the pipeline. The opening and closing part of the butterfly valve is a disc-shaped butterfly plate, which rotates around its own axis in the valve body, so as to achieve the purpose of opening, closing or adjustment.

The gate valve is a gate with opening and closing parts. The movement direction of the gate valve is perpendicular to the fluid direction. The gate valve can only be fully opened and fully closed, not adjusted and throttled. The gate valve is sealed by the contact between the valve seat and the gate. Usually, the sealing surface will be overlaid with metal materials to increase the wear resistance, such as overlaying 1Cr13, stl6, stainless steel, etc. The gate valve has rigid gate valve and elastic gate valve. According to different gate valves, the gate valve is divided into rigid gate valve and elastic gate valve.

1、 Scope of work for butterfly and gate valves

Such as gas and natural gas industry, LPG and hot and cold air industry, butterfly valves have a wide range of applications. Butterfly valve can be used to transport all kinds of corrosive media in the construction industry, and can also be used to adjust and grade media. Here, the function of gate valve is relatively single, which can only play the role of full opening or full closing. It is easy to produce deviation when working at the angle of sealing surface. Therefore, this kind of gate valve is also called elastic gate valve. When the gate valve is closed, the sealing effect can be achieved only by the pressure generated by the medium on the sealing cover. A large part of the gate valve is sealed by force, and when the gate valve is closed, the corresponding sealing surface can be sealed by external force.

2、 What is the difference between the action mode of butterfly valve and gate valve

When moving, the gate on the gate valve acts together with the valve stem, also known as rising stem gate valve. When passing through the guide groove on the valve body, the rotation action can be converted into linear motion. When the valve is open, the fluid channel cannot be monitored. When the valve is fully opened, it can be determined according to the position of the ram. When the valve stem is manually driven, the relevant RAM can be lifted. This kind of valve is called concealed rod gate.
